Hand-held dental instrument is designed as a single-sided, slender instrument ending in a thread onto which the needle is mounted (the thread is of universal size and fits all injection needles available on the market). Inside the tool is a plunger and a place for an ampoule of anesthetic.

Instruments have different:

1/ designs (how the ampoule is placed and how the piston is released, e.g., manual or automatic),

2/ shape of the piston tip (two teeth, three teeth, flat),

3/ amounts of single anesthetic administration dose,

4/ threads (straight, angle),

5/ handle (finger circle, three-finger circle, straight with manual or automatic piston release),

5/ lengths and widths.
